I’m still having trouble adding pictures to this site, so what I did was create a flickr account, which is a photo sharing website.
Hope everyone enjoys!

Mass this Sunday is not at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. It’s at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry, which is about 20 minutes south of Interstate 10. Mass is at 2:00 PM, with confessions heard before Mass.
Greetings. Ash Wednesday, which is February 6th, will see a Low Mass celebrated by Father Rommel Tolentino at 7:30 PM in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, thanks to the petition put out by some of our members.
Oh yeah, and every third Sunday of the month will be the day cookies and punch are served after Mass.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy Mardi Gras!

Cardinal Assesses Impact of “Summorum Pontificum”
By Mary Shovlain
ROME, JAN. 13, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Six months after Benedict XVI issued an apostolic letter on the extended use of the 1962 missal, the Vatican says it is seeing fruits of reconciliation with Catholics who objected to the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council.
[...]
Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos clarified the current status of members of the Society of St. Pius X due to excommunications issued by the Vatican to group members in 1988, in the wake of the schismatic gesture by Lefebvre of ordaining four bishops illicitly.
He explained: “The excommunications for the consecration done without the Pope’s permission affects only those bishops who carried out the consecration, and those bishops who received episcopal ordination in this illicit form in the Church, but it does not affect the priests or the faithful. Only those bishops are excommunicated.”
According to the Vatican prelate, what is needed now is “to sew back together the ecclesial fabric, because our brothers — I know them, I know some of the bishops even better — are all people of good will, people who want to be disciples of Jesus.”

Right after the 2:00 PM Mass on Sunday, there will be Eucharistic Benediction for the Feast of the Epiphany in the traditional rite. Everyone is encouraged to join their prayers in front of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
Recently, someone asked if Mass would be held on Ash Wednesday. I know of no Masses in the Traditional Rite to be celebrated that day in the diocese. However, because of the pope’s generosity, we can request it, and if enough do, then the priests are obliged to provide. So we’ve got about a month. Get movin’!
Update: Father Tolentino notified us that we must put our requests before Father Roland Vaughn, the chaplain of the traditional rite here.
Happy 2008, the New Year to everyone!
The only Traditional Latin Mass I know of today in the diocese is at 6:00 PM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry, Louisiana. It will probably be a Low Mass.
For Christmas Day, the only Traditional Latin Mass that I know of to be celebrated that day will be at 2:00 PM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hackberry, Louisiana. Unfortunately there is no midnight Mass in the extraordinary form, much to the detriment of all who desire it.
May all have a very Merry Christmas!
Holy Mass is at the Cathedral today, Sunday, December 16th, at the usual time (2:00 PM). Sorry for the late update.
Holy Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry, Louisiana, not at the Cathedral this Sunday. It will be a Low Mass High Mass - turns out their choir there sang the chants. Thanks for that! The LCLMS appreciates the choir at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church for singing at High Mass.
