Congratulations to Caleb for his first Holy Communion this past Sunday! Everyone should pray that he remains ever truly faithful to Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament.
Also, the choir will be joining a national Gregorian chant choir organization, and it needs a special name for the choir. A clever Latin name would work best for those interested in thinking of one.
Today I believe is Pope Benedict’s 81st birthday. We should all welcome the Pontiff since he’s visiting America this week, as well as pray for him as much as possible. He needs it.
Hi folks. There are several people who’d like to have a Eucharistic Procession on May 25th, the Sunday within the Octave of Corpus Christi. However, this event has to be planned, etc. So what you have to do is request it to the chaplain, Fr. Roland Vaughn. Father’s number he can be reached at is: (337) 762-3365. So all you have to do is call him and kindly request that this event takes place. Thanks.
Congratulations and many blessings to Samuel who was confirmed today during Holy Mass according to the 1962 rite. I wish I would have known sooner so I could make a post about it, but that’s okay. Everyone should pray for Christ’s new soldier of the Church.
Hello viewers! Easter is coming up soon. I just wanted everyone to know that this Palm Sunday there will be cookies, tea, and lemonade after Holy Mass.
I just wanted to let anyone who’s interested know that McNeese is hosting some pretty cool lectures on one famous Catholic of the nineteenth century: Cardinal Newman. All lectures are free and open to the public.
Tonight at 7:30 PM, Fr. John Ford, C.S.C., of the Catholic University of America, will be lecturing on “Newman Then and Now” with a reception following.
Tomorrow, Saturday, at 10:30 AM will be coffee and snacks, followed by a lecture at 11:00 AM with Dr. Bernadette Waterman Ward of the University of Dallas, lecturing on “Religious Liberty in the University: Newman’s Oxford Novel and American Academia Today”.
At 7:00 PM you can see Dr. Frederick Aquino of Abilene Christian University, lecturing on “Exemplars and the Urge to Connect”.
And around 8:00 PM, there will be a roundtable discussion with the speakers being joined by special guests: Dr. Susan Nicassio of U.L.L., and Dr. Kevin L. Cope of L.S.U. with a reception following.
All of this takes place at the Burton Conference Center.
Sounds very interesting and exciting!!
I’m still having trouble adding pictures to this site, so what I did was create a flickr account, which is a photo sharing website.
Hope everyone enjoys!
Mass this Sunday is not at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. It’s at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry, which is about 20 minutes south of Interstate 10. Mass is at 2:00 PM, with confessions heard before Mass.
Greetings. Ash Wednesday, which is February 6th, will see a Low Mass celebrated by Father Rommel Tolentino at 7:30 PM in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, thanks to the petition put out by some of our members.
Oh yeah, and every third Sunday of the month will be the day cookies and punch are served after Mass.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy Mardi Gras!
